Otis Augustas Eanes was born on January 27, 1958, the last child born to Mance and Lee Bertha Eanes. Pastor Eanes began preaching at the tender age of 12 years old. In 1983 he became the pastor and founder of the Greater Liberty Church of God in Christ located in the south end of East St. Louis, Illinois. The congregation flourished and he personally participated in the building of two churches from the ground up. The new Greater Liberty is a beautiful, state of the art structure with a fully appointed sanctuary, offices, classrooms, and a fully equipped computer lab. The services are streamed on the internet, and multiple ministries are in place. He became the district superintendent of District #4 of the Illinois Southeast Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ, appointed in 1991. He became the Administrative Assistant of Bishop William Scott in 1998. He was then elevated to Second Administrative Assistant. In September of 2015 he was elevated to the office of 1st Administrative Assistant. He served all of the bishops of the Illinois Southeast Jurisdiction in one capacity or another, such as state evangelist, district evangelist, ISEJ Tent Crusade, Baptismal Committee, Interim Finance Committee, and Benefit Dinner chairman. He was recognized and honored by the Whole Truth Magazine as one of the 100 Influential Pastors of the Church of God in Christ in 2014.
Pastor Eanes was educated in the East St. Louis School system, and continued his studies post high school. He attended Belleville Area College, Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, Ranken Technical College, Interdenominational Theological Center, and Word of Truth Bible College. He received a doctorate of theology degree in June of 2015 from the Temple of Deliverance School of Theology. He presently serves on the school’s board. He retired from Ameren Illinois at the end of January in 2015 after working there for twenty nine years. Pastor Eanes is an accomplished, anointed, and gifted preacher, singer, musician, and orator. He has been married to Mother Donna Eanes, who is his helpmate and also an extremely talented individual, for over 35 glorious years. Together they have four wonderful children who are all active in the ministry.
On November 11, 2018, with the unanimous approval of Bishop Charles Blake and the General Board Dr. Otis Eanes was consecrated as the Bishop of the Illinois Southeast Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ. He is excited and humbled about working on another level with the national church.
